Sound Healing and Meditation Level-1 Course

The first subtle expression of creation is believed to be sound, which is regarded as the manifestation of consciousness and energy in its purest form. This subtle sound exists in the form of vibration or spandan, which arises whenever there is any kind of permutation or combination of these two elements. It is considered the first evolute or the first manifestation.

According to the science of vibration, spanda shastra, vibration is always caused by movement, activity, or motion. If there is no motion or stillness, there will be no vibration. Vibration always accompanies actions such as merger or separation, and it becomes the first kriya or act of consciousness and energy.

Similarly, the formation of the universe, galaxies, and solar systems also creates their own sounds, noise, and vibrations, known as the nadas of the planets. This phenomenon is also observed within the body, where there are infinite sounds, vibrations, and noises. The auditory faculty picks up sounds within a certain range, but with the cultivation of the ability to hear the higher and lower ranges of sounds, one can discover a full symphony orchestra playing inside.

Singing bowl healing or sound healing is a popular practice in Nada Yoga, where specific sound frequencies are used to encourage well-being. Sound healers use Tibetan Healing Bowls, which were once used in spiritual and healing ceremonies conducted by monks in Nepal and Tibet.

The process of sound healing therapy involves transmitting sounds to a person through various methods, such as with another’s voice, having the person use their own voice, or while listening to music or an instrument. This process can promote a state of harmony and health in a person’s mind and body.

The goal of sound healing is to re-unite our individual sounds or Anahata with the universal or cosmic sound by focusing our attention on the Anahata with single-pointed concentration. Eventually, this process leads to the realization of the oneness of Anahata with Cosmic Anahata, which were always together and not separated.
